Its an old-school Thing. – HR Autoworks Type 181

We’re back at HR Autoworks, this time for someTHING a little different…

The guys over at HR Autoworks invited us back to check out what they’ve been working on over winter, Its a ’71 VW Type 181 imported from Italy! Ofcourse it wasnt going to be left untouched, so with a serious drop, packed with an air ride treatment, and good detail, this thing leaves a big statement!

Engine:

1500 single port. New long swing axle gearbox, from a beetle, replacing the reduction boxes on the original gearbox.

Chassis/Body:

4” Narrowed Limebug Jawbreaker Beam with through rods. Monroe Air Shocks. 2.5” dropped spindles. Tubbed front end. 2” rear dropped spring plates. Shortened rear shocks. Management using an existing dash switch and solenoids, one airlift gauge mounted in the dash, install under the bonnet trimmed in carpet including the spare wheel!

Interior:

Completely original vinyl trimmed seats, original roof with some home repairs done previously! Original steering wheel, everything is OG to the car!

Wheels:

Radar Wheels 5J all round! Polished lips, silver faces. 165/45 nankang fronts, 175/65 nankang rears.
